In 2022 we were commissioned by Red Ribbon Productions to make The King’s Telescope for ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ for Netflix (clkick on an image to expand):
The telescope is stood on a massive turntable in the observatory so it can move round. We made this complex mechanism of moving cogs to look as though it operated the turntable (it was actually motorised):
Parts were CNC machined in valchromat or turned on a lathe in chemiwood. The mahogany is a paint effect and the ‘brass’ parts are chromed and then sprayed with a tinted clear lacquer:
