A fully realistic practical Ankylosaurus prosthetic prop, for The Dinosaurs on Netflix 2026, for Bristol based SILVERBACK FILMS in conjunction with Industrial Light & Magic and Amblin Entertainment.

In 2023 we were approached by Silverback Films to create a practical dinosaur prop for a new and exciting production. Little did we realise that The Dinosaurs would be so huge! Exec produced by Steven Spielberg, narrated by Morgan Freeman and VFX by ILM.

When a CGI creature needs to physically interact with a real environment - dragged through streams, hauled across forest terrain - there's no substitute for a practical prop. This was exactly the challenge brought to us by Silverback Films and ILM.

Our lead sculptor Matthew Healey began with a plasticine maquette before scaling up to a full build: a six-metre Ankylosaurus, matched closely to ILM's digital creature. Silverback and ILM visited us regularly throughout, ensuring every detail aligned between the physical and digital versions.

The finished prop was cast in silicone with a reinforced strap through the tail - built from the ground up to withstand a punishing week on location.
